Commercial Shoot Pre-Production
These questions will help you get the most out of our pre-shoot call!
1. Why?
Why are we taking these images? What ethos drives your business? What are you trying to communicate? This question is the foundation of all my photography work, and helps to create very effective images.
2. Inspiration
I create custom concepts for every client, but having a few reference images will make sure we are on the same page visually. Email or save 2-3 shots to discuss in the call. Even if it's just that you like the mood or feel of a certain image.
Stuck? Check out what your competitors or contemporaries are doing (we can do similar or opposite!)
3. Shot List
The most critical piece to an accurate quote, is knowing how many different types of shots we need to capture.
Think about:
# of Products
# of Shots Per Product (angles, close-ups)
# of Extra shots like lifestyle, groupings, banners, and social content.
Image Type Examples
Product Shots
Make sure to think about whether your product needs a few angles or group shots, to convince your customers to purchase! Usually shot on a non-distracting background.
Lifestyle
Use these images in your store, on social media, promotional materials and more! Great for building out your brand story.
On figure/in use/showing scale
Perfect for showing your customers how big your product is, and that it actually exists in real life!
Banner + Detail Images
Use these specially designed assets as banners, headers, instagram story backgrounds, or details shots in your shop!
Still Life
Similar to a lifestyle, but a more contemporary or creative take on creating a story. Generally in studio with creative lighting.
CEO Portrait
Polish off your site, with some great portraits of you and your team!
